Louisiana Regional Test Center
The Department of Energy’s (DOE) Sandia National Laboratories names the University of Louisiana at Lafayette as one of only five Regional Test Centers (RTC) for Emerging Solar Technologies.
As one of only five DOE RTCs in the nation, The University of Louisiana at Lafayette’s Louisiana Solar Energy Research Lab (LaSEL) is the largest outdoor solar energy test facility in the southeast United States. UL Lafayette’s RTC is strategically located in our region to collect long-term data in our hot, humid climate that is prone to hurricanes. Through this research UL Lafayette will help advance the efficiency and innovation of Photovoltaic systems.
This competitive designation has provided LaSEL with state-of-the-art technology and lucrative industry contacts like First Solar, the United States’ largest domestic solar manufacturer, located a short distance from UL Lafayette’s campus. Here students will work at the intersection of research and real-world experience, preparing them for the jobs of the future.
